단연 니시진오리(西陣織) 를 들 수 있을 거에요.
지금으로부터 약 1,500년 전, 화려한 궁정문화가 시작된
미야코(都) 교토에는, 일본의 미의식의 원점(原点)이 생겨났어요.
자연을 소중히 여기며, 섬세함을 사랑하는 교토의 독특한 가치관이
불교, 무가(武家), 쵸닌(町人)의 문화의 영향을 함께 받으면서
그 아름다움은 더욱 세련되고 우아해져 갔어요.
니시진오리(西陣織)는, 일본에서 가장 오래된 산업으로도
손꼽히고 있어요.
무려 헤이안시대(平安時代)부터 내려온 장인들의 기술이
시대의 변천에 따라 조금씩 진화해 가며
오늘날의 니시진오리(西陣織)를 만들어내고 있어요.
이번 시간에는 교토의 명물인 니시진오리(西陣織) 중에서도
오늘날 가장 고급의 직물을 만들어내는데 사용되는
1800구의 자카드 직기(ジャカード織機・Jacquard machine)로
표현된 작품들을 소개해드리고 싶어요.
언뜻 보면 마치 손으로 직접그린 그림이나,
고화질로 프린팅된 포스터와 같이 보이지만
이 모든 작품들은 교토의 니시진오리(西陣織) 장인 분들이
한땀한땀 손으로 직접 직조하신 직물이에요!
직조된 직물은 기모노로 만들어지거나,
태피스트리, 병풍등으로 2차 가공되어 박물관에 전시되어 있어요.
실제로 보시면, 은은하면서도 고급스러운 광택이 흐르는
니시진오리(西陣織)만의 아름다움을 생생하게 느끼실 수 있을 거에요.
미술관 내부를 천천히 걷다보시면
빛의 화가로 불리우는 클로드 모네(Claude Monet) 의 작품을
모티브로 하여, 니시진오리(西陣織)로 제작한 병풍이
아름답게 전시되어 있어요.
시간의 흐름에 따라 병풍을 비추는 빛의 색상과 조도가 변화하며
신비스러운 분위기를 자아내요.
